The way that a Well is funded visually represents the horizontal partnership between the villagers and donors. MMM only provides what the villagers can’t. Their involvement creates a sense of ownership and responsibility. They collect sand and gravel, dig the wells, and make the bricks from clay. MMM then provides the cement, tools, pump parts and pipes, transportation, and skilled labor.
