I have thought about “stories”. The face that keeps coming to my mind is the 8-10 year old boy in a village who sat there as we were proceeding with the pump installation. He is albino: very light complexion with skin almost pink, blonde hair, and appearing very different from his peers.

He appeared to be in constant discomfort: much of his skin looked burned and new growth coming, his lips were large and swollen (I had a small blister on my bottom lip for awhile in Malawi and it was nothing compared with what he must daily live), his teeth protruded out at a noticeable angle, and his eyes almost buried under the heavy coat with hood which he was wearing. which came almost to the bottom of his nose. At first I thought he must have fallen into the fire or hot water. Then I realized he was albino.

I saw the pained face of Jesus in that boy. I found myself saying God had an only begotten Son and He was the great Physician. Surely we can help that boy have a less pained life.
