Meg Presley, 2010 Volunteer
I’ve been blessed to have worked with Marion Medical Mission for each of the last five years, and as a consequence have been lucky enough to have personally participated in the installation of countless wells. And yet every time — in each and every village — the miraculousness of the event still overwhelms me. I still find myself marveling out loud as I hike to the well site with the villagers, I’m in Africa! I’m participating in a miracle! Every time truly feels like the first time.
Hundreds of villages. Thousands of villagers. To share an event like this with them . . . to work hand-in-hand in partnership with them on a project of this magnitude . . . to be invited into their homes . . . to smile into their faces and be met by their extraordinary smiles and eyes so full of joyful gratitude . . . to combine both their joy and my joy together in unbridled song and dance . . . it has got to be at the very core of why we’re all here on this earth. What a privilege! Praise God!
