I love reading the trip reports of my friends and co-workers. It is awe inspiring to hear the stories they tell, and to share in their life changing experiences. A MMM trip is sure to provide you with a lifetime of stories and adventures.
This was my sixth trip with MMM; this year was no different except that it was. Maybe being in Zambia for my third consecutive year, maybe because I had my college roommate with me doing well installations for the first time after he had introduced me to Africa seven years ago, maybe because my fellow Lions Club member accompanied me this year, or maybe it was the overwhelming sense of brotherhood I felt with my band of African and American brothers and sisters- I don’t know, but once again I was privileged to witness and be a part of the MMM task of performing the impossible and providing the miracle of clean water for over four hundred thousand men, women and children.
I often ask myself why I get so excited over one of life’s most common essentials and then I know – because it is not common unfortunately in this part of the world. Crystal clear water- to the villagers it is life, a gift from God, reason to celebrate. Of the twelve thousand photos I have of Africa, my favorites are always those of crystal clear water coming from a MMM “Glory to God” inscribed well. For me, it has been God’s way of expressing faith, hope and love – by providing me an opportunity to serve, to experience, to share, to treasure, to appreciate, to value, to enjoy God in the here and now.
