The 2007 Marion Medical Mission Team installed 1289 shallow wells with another 167 finished after they left for a total of at least 1456 wells completed. They also preached in a number of churches, presented workshops in several schools and assisted at the schools. The wells included over 200 in Tanzania and 150 in Zambia with the rest in Malawi.
This year we added two more vehicles but one did not become available until after the teams left.. This gave us nine vehicles to use – so we had nine teams in the field installing wells. We also were kept scrambling with occasional vehicle breakdowns.
This year, the quality of the pump parts was much improved, although we had problems with a few parts and with our aggressive installation plans (1200 wells targeted), we had some challenges getting all the parts where and when we wanted. Even with these challenges, we were able to install everything that was built on time.
